A most successful Third Central & North Atlantic Conjugate Margins Conference took place in Trinity College, Dublin from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th August 2012. 277 delegates from 17 countries attended the conference. Many delegates also attended the four field trips held in the West of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Southern England and southern Portugal.
We would especially like to thank the many organisations who sponsored or exhibited at the conference and the many people who assisted in the organisation of both the conference and the field trips. We also thank the 48 oral presenters and 52 poster presenters for their excellent work. And lastly we thank all the 277 delegates without whom these events would not be held. Hopefully we will see many of you again in St John’s in 2014.
This conference followed the successful inaugural Central Atlantic Conjugate Margins Conference in Halifax, Canada in 2008 and the Second Central & North Atlantic Conjugate Margins Conference in Lisbon, Portugal in 2010. Dublin 2012 was designed to attract and bring together representatives of industry, academia, and others interested in the relationships between margin evolution and petroleum systems, particularly those currently interested in exploring and working in the Central and North Atlantic and adjacent basins. We believe that the regional focus of the event coupled with access to modern seismic data and new ideas will be a catalyst for a better understanding of the prospectivity of the region.
The next Atlantic Margins conference will be held in St John’s Newfoundland in August 2014 and further information on the 2014 conference can be obtained from Kim Petley (KimPetley@nalcorenergy.com). A further Atlantic Margins conference is planned in Recife Brazil in August 2016.
